Founding Donor – Richard Dubrovsky
Richard (Rick) Dubrovsky has been for over 40 years one of the esteemed leaders of the Montreal Jewish Community. He has been involved with numerous organizations, including several educational, communal and charitable organizations in Montreal and Canada. He has been involved for 25 years with the Jewish General Hospital, serving as its President, Chair of the Board of Directors and its Foundation Board, thereby contributing greatly to the health andwelfare of the people of Quebec and beyond.
For seven decades, the Dubrovsky family has been a key player in the Montreal Real Estateindustry and the philanthropic community. Started by his late father, Harry, Rick took over the family business in the early 1970s.
Rick is a first cousin of the Honorable Irwin Cotler. The entire family has always been very close. Rick’s late father, brother of Prof. Cotler’s mother, always considered Irwin as a son, and Rick considered Irwin as his elder brother.
The entire family is immensely proud of Irwin and his accomplishments, which reflect his conviction and beliefs, which, says Rick, “we all share.”
Asked why he decided to make a significant and very generous contribution to Tel Aviv University on behalf of the family, Rick responded: “my father would have been so proud of Irwin and would have wanted to do this himself.”
“What better way to honor Irwin, his legacy, and my father than creating something so far-reaching? And I love what this project will hopefully accomplish.”
